Real and Unreal Conditions

REAL in the present	Simple present	Present	If the temperature drops to 0, water freezes. If the child moves, the proper dose of medicine is not received.
REAL in the future	Simple present	Will + SV	If you don’t prepare properly, you won’t pass the test. If I have time, I will prepare for the test.
UNREAL in the present or the future	Simple past	Would + SV Could + SV	If I had time, I would prepare for the test. (But I don’t have time) If I had enough time, I could prepare for the test. (But I don’t have enough time)
UNREAL in the past	Past perfect	Would have + past participle Could have + past participle	If I had had time, I would have studied for the test. (But I didn’t). If I had studied harder this semester, I could have passed level 3. (But I didn’t).
