Grammar #10: Modals of Necessity

We use HAVE TO, HAVE GOT TO, and MUST to express necessity. The past tense for all 3 is HAD TO.  The negative is DON'T HAVE TO.

1. Think about your plans for this week. What are 2 things you don't have to do and 1 thing that you have to do?

2. Think about your activities last week. What were 2 things you had to do and one thing you didn't have to do?

3. What is something that all citizens must do in your country?

    1. I hava to have ESL class this week.
    I don't have to finish my presentation this week.

    2. I had to clean my house last week.
    I didn't have to cook every morning last week.

    3. ALL citizens in my country must pay taxes.
    All citizens in my country must obey the laws.

      1. Today I haven't to cook and I haven't to clean my resroom, but I have to study hard for test next week.

      2. In the last week I had to work and I had to refill up gas with my car, but I hadn't do homework.

    I don't have to clear my room this week. I don't have to cook for weekend but I must to study for the test on Monday.
    I had to rotated my car tired by myself last week, so I don't have to go to the shop.
    The citizen must follow the law.

      Correction:
      I have to upgrade my DJ software every month,and i have to check for my speaker cables before heading for a party.

    - I have to brush my teeth at least two times a day.
    - I don't have to take the driving test this week.
    - I don't have to hang out with my friends this week, because i have to study for the test next week.
    - I had to work at the weekend last week.
    - I don't have to clean the house last week, because i had to work.
    - Everybody must wear a "cooker" (guardian hat) to join the road by the motorcycle.

    I have to renew my ID but I don't have any idea where to go.
    I had to pick up my daughter at school, because she had fever, and I also had to give her ibuprofen. I don't have to give antibiotic.

    All citizens must have to vote.
