Grammar #1: Present tense (due Monday)
Go to a place where there are many people (such as a zoo, a hotel lobby, a street corner) or just imagine yourself to be there. Describe what you see. Let your reader "see" what you see by drawing a picture in words. Use present tenses. Write one paragraph. Begin with a description of what you are doing: I am sitting on a bench at the zoo...

Today, I’m going to the Houston zoo. They have lots of people in line to get their tickets. I have to wait almost 20 minutes in line to get it. The weather is really hot. I’m excited to see all of the animals. When I get inside, I see lots of animals in there. The cages of the birds are really wide and long. I see many new birds in an enclosure. They present nature’s voice. Next to the cages of birds they have lots of zebras, elephants and giraffes. Elephants are the larger than giraffes. I feed some grasses for giraffes and elephants. This zoo has a large pool of water. They have many benches. I ride paddle boat around the pool. It’s really excited. I see many kind of fishes. In addition they also have lots of turtles and ducks. I visit monkeys, bears, hippos, snakes and crocodiles etc. After that I’m walking to the big cat zone. I see white tiger. It’s really graceful. Next, I see the lion family. They have three females and one male. It’s really impressive. They can live together and don’t have a problem. I spend many happy hours in the zoo. It’s a pleasing experience for me.

Tonight I'm going to the Empire State Building with my family. This is one of the symbol of New York. We have to get in line to buy the tickets. The line is very long so we have to wait for about 40 minutes. After that, we head to the elevator to get to the 86th floor. On our way, we read about the history of the building. The elevator moves very fast and takes only about 2 minutes to get to the 86th floor. On 86th floor, I can see every thing from the lights, the traffic to the buildings, etc. There are a lot of people here but finally I find a good place to take pictures. I can stay here and never get tired of looking at the scenario. Far away, i can see the H&M tower. It's the biggest H&M building I have ever seen. The clouds, the wind, the sound, the scenario, every wonderful thing makes me feel peaceful and happy. After 25 minutes, I go downstair to buy some souvernirs for my friends. I'm confused with all the things in the gift shop because there are a lot of beautiful things to choose from. Finally, I choose to buy 2 shirts and a cup with the Empire State Building picture on them. Then, I go back to the 1st floor, take the last picture and go home. I hope that one day I can come here again.
ReplyDeleteThis writing is very good but its not present progressive. Instead of telling us what's happening right now in the moment, you're narrating the events as they happen (like in a novel).
DeleteToday my friend is calling me to play tennis i'm glad to he can call me to play tennis . when we are there, I'm unhappy because some people are playing tennis on there . so we are sitting on the chair to watch them . after 40 minutes , finally they are leaving. and then we start playing tennis . but I can't play well because I 'm a novice. my friend is sweet,he teach me how to play. I am so happy I can learn how to play a new game. we enjoy the game time . we just play one hour, because we have other things to do . today is a happy day . I look forward to next Saturday we can playing tennis again.

Today I'm on the beach with my family and friends. It's a beautiful day, I'm playing beach volleyball with my friends. There are many people on the beach enjoying the day, there are people playing soccer, surfing, fishing on the pier. In the distance I can see big ships. Being with my family makes me feel happy, to take pictures to remember how beautiful the place. We are very happy and hope to come again soon.

DeleteI'm in a zoo is very nice. There are many people, I am happy seeing the animals, there are restaurants, a place where you can ride a motorcycle, pool, there canopy. It is a very nice place to stroll there are many kinds of animals such as lions, zebras, birds, deer, there is a place where they sell ice creams. I take pictures of all animals.

ReplyDeleteI am walking to the hotel lobby. This is very nice and big hotel.I have to park the car at basement, and take elevator to the lobby.At lobby, first things you can see a starbucks on your right hand. and a bar at your left hand.I see some people sit on the bar and drink some wine,maybe eat some food,too. they talk and enjoy.I pass the those two stores and see the imformation desk.They have some young ladys sit there for help.If you want to walk to the room, you have to take the elevator again.They have 19th floors.The interest thing i just know it, there not have 13th floor.Because american think that is unlucky number.If you don't want to park at the basement, you can give your car to the valet,they wait front the door to lobby, they can take your car, but they need to charge, we can drive and walk, better just park by self for save money.So this is the hotel lobby I see it.

DeleteTonight, I am going to the Houston Zoo Lights with my friends. This is the first time I go to the Zoo Lights. We have to park far away from the zoo because there is not any empty parking plot nearby. After waiting on the long line, we can buy the tickets. I am excited and amazed when I pass through the entrance gate. I cannot imagine this is real in front of my eyes. As I walk toward, I see many different light decorations. In addition, Christmas songs are playing as same as the flashlight go on and off everywhere. They also use the light and postures to make many animals with the sound like the real one. Kids are running around and playing with the lights reflects on the ground. Older people take a lot of picture. I feel disappointed because I cannot see any real animal; I think they are sleeping now. Luckily, there are several zebras in the big tall house, but I cannot take any pictures with them because I cannot get into the crowd around that house. On the way out, I see a big tall tree is decorated with the panel that has three words “Live, Love, and Laugh.” We take a few photographs with it and leave at eleven o’clock. Finally, I have a great night with my friends at the Houston Zoo and cannot wait to see it again next year.

I am going to visit my friend Sam she live in a hotel . She tell me to wait for her at the hotel lobby . I was sitting on a beautiful coach and the hotel is so big and nice . As I was waiting for my friend to come I see a lot of people coming to hotel . In the front there was an information desk where they help people and they can also check in and out . On the other side there was a bar where people can get refreshments and snacks . It a luxury hotel and there is a billiard for people who can play as they are waiting . In addition , there was a big swimming pool outside and it was a beautiful view for the people . Also they have a gym place for the people living their . These people have a lot of facilities of doing their exercise the place where they are living . I was so happy about this and it was also my first time entering a 5 star hotel so huge and so beautiful .

ReplyDeleteI get over there, I park in front of the beach, and I put my big sunshade,and beach chair, I sit on the chair and relax, I listen the ocean waves, and sea gull,this kind of sound is really wonderful and relaxing. I am seeing small children play at seashore, and another children building sandcastle, and a young boy is playing with his dog. He throws a plate in the air and the dog grabs in the air, this is a beautiful view, but now is time to swim

DeleteI am standing at the corner of the street,i'm viewing the sky from the south everything is so beautiful,the beautiful lady nest to me asking for a cigarette but i'm telling her i don't smoke, she's saying that's good and she's want stop smoking, i'm giving her my email promising working with her on how she will stop smoking,she's very happy and i'm leaving the spot i'm standing because its raining.

ReplyDeleteI am waiting at the Hall of the Hobby Theater. It is a crowded place tonight. Also, there are a lot of kids waiting to see The Lion King. While I am going inside the theater I turn off my cell phone. I am excited about this Musical. My seat is in the front line, seat number 10. It is a great view and the place is beautiful. I am looking everything around me. In front of the curtain are some Characters. The people looks very enthusiastic. This room it is full of happiness. I see smiley faces everywhere. I am feeling a great energy. I am listening two girls behind me, singing some of the famous songs. I am so happy to be here tonight.

ReplyDeleteI’m standing up at Jeanette St. and Westheimer corner waiting for the green light to cross the street. It is 9 o’clock and the weathers is sonny. Have a lot of car passing. Somebody waits the bus at the bus station. At the left of the street, I see a lot of people drinking coffee at Starbucks. In front of me have a CVS that no one goes into the store. In my right is Egg and I. It’s a breakfast restaurant that have a several cars park in the parking lot.

I am shoping in the memmorial mall with my mom. it is holly day today. Thare are so much people every where. Young age childre and people are skating on ice link, many fathers are taking a nap on the chaires, and the famouse cloth shop with "SALE" tag is crowded with many people. I and mom feel hungry. We are going to the cafeteria. I can see a Chines restaurant. I ordered General Chicken food. Mom is sitting on table. I bring to her, and enjoy it. I like watching people like this big shopping mall.

Some people are laying down on the sands .some are walking across the beach ,some of those are playing surfboarding and skiing on the water ,and a few of the want to get in the boat to go and see across the sea .

I'm sitting in the Marriott Resort lobby in Las Vegas right now. It's a relaxed holiday today. Everybody here speaks always with smile. It seems that we all like this city because it brings happy and comfort for people. I'm waiting for my husband. He's checking in now. There are five young people who are laughing and talking each other beside me. I can hear they are planning to watch an amazing KA Show tonight. In the center of the lobby, two beautiful girls with swimwear are drinking coffee. They're so attractive. I can't help remembering a movie about the foreshore. I like this holiday and I'm enjoying it.
